Piero Fornasetti reflected in a mirror with the �egocentrismo�
optical decoration: this kind of decoration became very fashionable. Fornasetti used it in the 1950�s, an example of his influence on fashion, during those years. In 1959 he was awarded the �Newman Marcus for distinguished service in the field of old fashion.�

1913,10th November, Piero Fornasetti was born in Milano.
1930 entered Brera Academy to study drawing
1932 has been expelled from Brera for insubordination.
1933 showed his first canvasses as part if a student exhibition at Milano University. He took part, for the first time, in the Milan Triennale, with a series of scarves in printed silk.
1935 at the sixth Triennale he showed, among other things, a bronze stele and decorative ceramic-frieze in an archaic style.
1940 met Gio Ponti during the occasion of the Seventh Triennale, designed the lunar commissioned by Ponti.
1942 executed frescoes for the palazzo Bo, Padova
1943-1946 went into exile in Switzerland
1947 exhibited at the Triennale a series of motifs for ceramics, (commissioned by Giò Ponti).
1950 decorated the interior of the Casinò of San Remo
1951 first example of a complete interior design for the �Casa Lucano�, in collaboration with Giò Ponti. Exhibited his �Architettura� furniture at the Ninth Triennale. Chest of drawers �Palladiana�
1952 took part in the interior decoration of "Andrea Doria".
1955-1958 creation of the �Stanza Metafisica�
1970 with several friends founded the Bibliofili Gallery
1979 death of Gio Ponti.
1980 the shop Themes and Variations opened in London reviving interest in Fornasetti�s works
Early 1987 first project, in collaboration, with Patrick Mauriès, for a book of his collected works that would cover his carrier.
1988 death of Piero Fornasetti in Milan, during minor hospital treatment.
1989 Barnaba Fornasetti continues the atelier tradition .
1991-1992 the Victoria and Albert Museum dedicated him a big exhibition and the first monograph has been published
1992 start of a series of license contracts with other companies for a new product typology
1998 Christie�s dedicated him an auction sale in Los Angeles
2002 69 dessins érotiques by Piero Fornasetti were exhibited in Paris, Palais Royal
2003/2004 travelling exhibition at the Italian Institute of Culture of Washington, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Los Angeles.
