Luceplan

Luceplan

Luceplan was established on the 14th of July 1978 based of an idea conceived by three architects, Riccardo Sarfatti, Paolo Rizzatto and Sandra Severi who wanted to create a structured company that could meet the requirements of planning "lighting for architecture". Each of these designers brought to the company an extraordinary experience, developed during their years collaborating with Gino Sarfatti, founder of Arteluce and a pioneer of Italian contemporary lighting. In 1984, the engineer Alberto Meda, a specialist in plastics and with a penchant for experimenting with materials, joined the group of founding partners. On the wave of the its initial success the company decided to tackle the mass production of designer lamps, conceived as an indissoluble blend (or ‘mix‘) of technology and form. The lightness of appearance and weight of all Luceplan products has become a symbol of its constant research, which – free of the dictates of fashion and trends – only pursues the aims of practicality, beauty and innovation. Form is reduced to a minimum, focussing on significant technological content. This form conceals the complexity of the project and are designed to last, rather than to astonish. This brave entrepreneurial strategy has been rewarded by the increased favour of both the public and critics. Luceplan‘s irrepressible vocation for experimentation has resulted in the company continuing to successfully confront the challenges of an increasingly demanding global market.
